SIFACE, L'AMOR CASTRATO
With this amazing 'Siface: l'amor castrato', the countertenor Filippo Mineccia and the conductor Javier Ulises Illán at the head of Nereydas, they present an imaginary pasticcio that reflects the musical and personal life of the castrato contralto 'Siface' born as Giovanni Francesco Grossi in 1653 in Tuscany.
Filippo Mineccia brilliantly captures the kaleidoscopic succession of emotions running through this selection of arias, reflecting the steamy and spectacular way of life of the late 17th century. The Nereydas ensemble is immersed with empathy in this always colorful vocal and instrumental celebration, often deep and incisive, also signed by Alessandro Scarlatti (the emotional nana Dormi or fulmine), Francesco Cavalli or the aforementioned Purcell (My song shall be alway).
